adventurous holiday or simply a quieter experience. The island has many
important heritage sites and museums, all at their least crowded in the
winter. The weather conditions usually permit all year round playtime for
keen golfers too! It is the skiing that surprises most however with 'peak'
conditions in February whilst remaining sunny and warm on the coast. Cyprus
has something to offer every month of the year, whether it's water-sports
throughout November, enjoying cultural sites and festivals all year long,
snowboarding/skiing on Mount Olympus or a sun filled Christmas and New Year.

November temperatures can still be as high as 24 degrees making it still
very enjoyable for swimming and sunbathing on the coast, outdoor sports
including tennis, golf and horseriding, as well as inland excursions to
villages and vineyards for wine tastings. Winter sun also brings with it the
annual Kypria festival, with prestigious local and international musical and
dramatic performances at venues throughout Cyprus.
Autumn is the ideal season for hiking along the numerous trails in the
Troodos mountain range that lead you off the beaten track, into the green
heart of Cyprus.
December and January, the months of Mediterranean winter have an average of
six hours of bright sunshine a day. This is the time of year when smaller
Mediterranean destinations shut down for the season, but not so in Cyprus
due to its eastern location.
Outdoor activities and excursions can be enjoyed. The first orchids bloom in
January in Cyprus, and by mid-February the countryside is already alive with
fresh green meadows and almond trees in bloom.
February sees ideal conditions for snowboarding/skiing on the Troodos
mountains. The Troodos stretches across the centre of Cyprus and reaches up
to 1,952 meters at Mount Olympus, it is truly spectacular; a rugged but
easily accessible region brimming with 12th and 14th century frescoed
churches, winemaking villages and pine forests. With an average of seven
sunshine hours, exploration of the coastline can be enjoyed too.
March temperatures are around 19C or 65F with an average of 8 sunshine
hours. Early spring is a wonderful time to visit to Cyprus, with pleasant
daytime temperatures and many of the ancient ruins framed by a carpet of red
anemones and other wildflowers, nature at its best. March is an excellent
period for long country walks, hiking in the Avakas Gorge and the Akamas
peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Historical sites of
interest including The Tombs of the Kings, Roman Mosiacs, Kurium and
monastries are ideally visited in the cooler months, much more comfortable!
